Construction underway at new 9-hole course

January 24, 2024 — The Clover, a new 9-hole course, is in the northeast part of the property formerly known as the North Course, or Narrows.

Construction of the Clover will continue through the rest of January and February. We’ll reshape the soil on each hole according to a detailed architectural plan. The work will be timed so that turfgrass growth can begin in the spring, an important part of establishing a healthy, resilient playing surface.

During construction, vehicles will be traveling to and from the north entrance between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., five days a week. Please be aware that no one is allowed on the course during the renovation except approved staff.

The photos below are a snapshot of the work underway at the 9-hole Clover course. After turf is removed, important features of each hole are marked with white stakes. These stakes help guide the shaping of the new course. Shaping is the process of refining the rough, graded dirt surface into the contoured landscape envisioned in the architect’s plan. We’re also preparing to install an advanced new irrigation system on this course. Once this work is complete and the landscape is ready for turf sprigs, the process of creating an impeccable playing surface can begin.

The Clover will be a fun and accessible 9-hole course

The course will include five par 3 holes of varying length, and four short par 4 holes. The layout will create opportunities to practice some precise iron play, as well as delicate short game shots around the perimeters of greens. The holes will feature narrow fairways, smaller greens and a handful of thoughtfully placed bunkers and grass hollows. Expect some challenge on each hole, and a course that is fun, fair and accessible for all golfers.

Sincerely,
The Killearn Club team
