Feb. 19, 2024 — As a talented coach and a PGA Golf Professional, Cam will help make Killearn the place for players of all skill levels to find new enjoyment and challenge in the game. Cam has an encyclopedic knowledge of golf technique, and a good eye for subtle changes in a player’s movement between swings.
Cam comes to Tallahassee by way of New Jersey, where he served as head golf professional at the Shore Club (formerly Wildwood Golf & Country Club). He’s also been an instructor at John’s Island Club in Vero Beach, Florida, and Vermont’s historic Dorset Field Club.
The director of golf position is a new addition to the leadership team as part of the club’s ongoing, multi-phase renovation and revitalization project. In his role as director, Cam will oversee all aspects of golf at the club, including a well-rounded tournament and activities schedule, and a new, dedicated golf teaching facility.
Quick Q&A with Cam White
One must-have piece of gear: The new Callaway Smoke Ai Driver is the best club I have hit in a long time. My ball speed increased and it also cut down on the side spin that leads to missed fairways. It never hurts to hit it a little farther and straighter!
Best golf advice: If you only have so much time to work on your game, spend the majority of that time on your short game. 100 yards and in is the scoring part of the game, and that should be the best part of all of our games.
Worst golf advice: “Keep your head down.” This is a common misconception and is the most circulated piece of advice from amateurs to each other. While keeping your head still is important in the golf swing, the root cause is generally a drastic change in your spine angle throughout the swing.
In your bag right now:
- Driver – Callaway 8 degree Smoke Ai Triple Diamond
- 3 Wood – Callaway 13.5 degree Paradym
- 3 Hybrid – Callaway 18 degree Paradym Super Hybrid
- 4-AW – Callaway Apex Pro Irons
- Wedges – 56 & 60 degree Callaway JAWS
- Putter – Odyssey 11 Tour lined
Favorite aspect of golf at Killearn: The sight lines and visual beauty of the 18-hole course are second to none. Each hole is uniquely framed and allows players of all levels to attack the hole in different ways. From the tips, it will be a true test!
When you aren’t playing: I enjoy spending time with my wife Gina and our dog Bella. We are avid sports fans and love to attend live sporting events whenever we have the opportunity.
About the renovation
The renovation is in its second year, with the redesigned 18-hole Championship Course slated to open this summer. Construction of the Clover, a new 9-hole course, began in January.
We’ll share more details about membership and amenities ahead of the 18-hole course opening planned for this summer.
Sincerely,
The Killearn Club team
